1998

June
The Battle of Hogwarts.
Slytherin wins both the Quidditch Cup and the House Cup. Head Boy Theodore Nott, Head Girl Padma Patil, and other Pure- and Half-blood students who attended Hogwarts and feel up to it are allowed to sit for their NEWTs and graduate. Programs are put into place so that those who were not afforded the opportunity to learn their final year are allowed to learn what they need; they sit for their NEWTs a few months later.

Professor Vindictus Viridian is hired as Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor.

31 - Certain wizards from distinguished families who recently graduated from Hogwarts begin to band together, determined to further the ideologies of their forefathers and of the now-fallen Dark Lord. They meet in secret, and make plans for the future, to exploit their connections and finish the work that was left undone. They call themselves the new "Knights of Walpurgis."

1 - Goblin Riots Erupt in Chipping Clodbury. Brotherhood of Goblins supporters riot during a meeting with representatives from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. The goblins use illegal wands for transfiguration and called for the release of activist Hodrod the Horny-Handed. Goblin-wizard relations are at an all time low.

The new ranks of the Knights of Walpurgis meet with Goblin representatives, and forge an alliance.

August
1 - Filius Flitwick is named Deputy Headmaster.

1 - Ministry imposes restrictions. Restrictions are placed on Halloween celebrations, the one time of year wizards can be "out and about" without arousing the suspicions of Muggles.

1 - Pardons begin to be issued to those involved with the Dark Lord. Over the following months, some are released from Azkaban, and others never face trial.

The Order of the Phoenix comes together and meets in secret again, including past members of Dumbledore's Army and the Order who survived the Battle of Hogwarts and managed to elude persecution and/or capture. Those present at the meeting include Hannah Abbott, Terry Boot, Michael Corner, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Anthony Goldstein, Hermione Granger, Padma Patil, Dean Thomas, and Ronald Weasley.

The Ministry begins to formulate Security Decrees and make them law. They begin with Security Decree No. 1 and 2. "For security," all conversations through telephone or by floo may be monitored, and travels over the floo network may be monitored and/or traced.

December
25 - The Potters are attacked. Harry and a pregnant Ginevra Potter are killed, but James Sirius Potter is left unharmed, in his crib.

2006

January

February
14 - Neville Longbottom proposes to Hannah Abbott. They plan to wed the following year.
21 - Head of Department of International Magical Cooperation Sachin Patil and his wife, Andromache Patil nee Wenlock are killed in what is called an "unfortunate accident."

March
1 - Theodore Nott becomes Head of Department of International Magical Cooperation.

April
Security Decree No. 3 is passed. Apparition may be monitored.

May
2 - The Ministry continues to craft anti-Muggleborn legislation. New laws makes it impossible not only for Muggleborns to attend Hogwarts, purchase magical products, and live magical lives, it also makes those imprisoned for 'offenses' subject to tortures and such things as indentured servitude.

June
5 - Destruction in Cornwall is reported; Muggles suspect a hurricane, but it was the work of giants working for Voldemort.

July
The Decree for the Formation of an Absolute Council of Heads of Departments is passed.

August
22-23 - Padma Nott gives birth to twins, Theodore and Persephone, named for their father and paternal grandmother.
31 - Hogwarts is now again surrounded by Dementors. Dementors search the Hogwarts Express while students are on their way to school. First Years are sorted at supper.

September
1 - Hogwarts classes begin.
5 - Pure-blood Parvati Patil killed by the Knights of Walpurgis, in what is painted as an attack by Muggle fundamentalists.

October

November
Security Decree No. 4 is passed. All political parties must be approved by the government, and have current lists of active party members, with identification number, address, and telephone number all available. Their fireplaces must be configured for open access on the floo network.

December
25 - The Order attempts to steal various artifacts from the Ministry of Magic. The attempt is thwarted, and Hannah Abbott and Justin Finch-Fletchley are captured, tortured, and killed.

2007

January
The Guidelines of Powers of the Council of Heads of Departments statute is passed.

February

March

April
Security Decree No. 5 is passed. A curfew is put into place. No person, unless authorized specifically by the Ministry for Magic, is to be out between the hours of 10 PM and 5 AM, local time. Those caught out after hours without valid reason – latitude for determining whether reasons are valid or invalid will be given to the officers making note of the infraction – will be sent to the nearest center of Law Enforcement for appropriate processing. Repeat offenders will be imprisoned. Fines may be assessed, and greater punishments may be made as deemed appropriate.

June
Muggleborn Kevin Entwhistle is killed by the Knights of Walpurgis. He is said to have been involved in a number of extremist plots and tied to Muggleborn Supremacy projects.

Security Decree No. 6 is passed. All Animagi must register with the Ministry. All Occlumens and Legilimens must also register with the Ministry. The additional teaching of these skills may not be conducted except under approval of the Dark Lord and the Council, and with supervision.
All Metamorphagmi must also register with the Ministry. Muggles and Muggleborns must also register, as must those who are of mixed heritage, including, but not limited to: Dwarf, Goblin, Giant, etc. Failure to follow these rules may result in penalties at the discretion of the Department of Law Enforcement.

2008

January
Luna Lovegood and Rolf Scamander are married. The pair is attacked, and killed by members of the Knights of Walpurgis while on their honeymoon.

February

March
Security Decree No. 7 is passed. All citizens are to carry their Ministry-issued identification cards, with picture, thumbprint, barcode, and all relevant information on it at all times. They may be asked to show it any any-time. Failure to do so will result in a fine and possibly jail time for repeat offenders. Each character's ID will denote Blood Status and any other pertinent information. Things like whether they are a metamorphmagi, animagi, werewolf, etc. will be denoted on the back of the card. This is for the security of citizens.

The Magical Education Act is passed. The Ministry revokes the privilege of Magical education to those lacking Magical ancestry (e.g. Muggleborns) and demands that they be assimilated into the Muggle population outside the Magical world. The Ministry further reserves the right to limit or suspend the privilege of Magical education to certain individuals or groups as it sees fit.

The Marriage Act is passed. The marriage of Wizards to those lacking Magical ancestry is henceforth prohibited. If, however, the Wizard/Witch does not wish to recognize the union, they are free of any obligations tied to such, and the marriage will be effectively dissolved and annulled.

The Privilege Clause is added to the Marriage Act. Limited privileges over the Muggle populace will be given to those Muggles in already existing unions, which are not annulled by the wish of the Wizard/Witch involved. These privileges will be enhanced by the presence of Wizarding progeny.

The birth dates of certain Hogwarts students should follow the precedent set forth in the books, so we've provided a way for you to determine this more easily. Scroll to your character's present Year at Hogwarts, and check the days their birthdate should fall within; it will also let you know when they would have started Hogwarts, and the years during which they will be in attendance.
